All of the free web hosts listed below are ad free (no forced ads) with FTP access and POP3 email.

Editors Opinion: Free hosting should only be a temporary means of hosting your website for testing purposes or in times where money is tight. Paid hosting is more reliable and will result in less headaches and wasted time if you can afford it today. Remember, as with anything in life, you get what you pay for.

With that said, if your only option today is a free web host, here are some that we hope will treat you well. Let others know how it goes with the free host you pick by leaving a comment.

I have tried many free hosts and it’s so frustrating… Right when you think everything is going great with setting things up and running smoothly it’s like hitting a brick wall. The support takes forever, the control panels are difficult, and I also was worried about security and how long the free host would even be around. It’s nice that you are providing this list for everyone but IMO It’s so worth it to suck it up and shell out the money for real paid hosting. Just my 2 cents 🙂

I signed up with hostgator this week and used a $25 coupon. I have to agree with you about the control panel and overall ease of use. It’s not as complicated as byethost’s system and I was impressed with being able to use the live chat support instead of having to wait for hours or days for help.

Never sign up to 000webhost they will delete your account after a while without warning and accuse you of not reading the TOS. google problems with 000webhost. theres hundreds!

    About freehostia :
It is a better host than 000webhost according to me. They provide great amount of Disk space and Bandwidth. The negative is that, if you host a WordPress or other CMS, you cannot send any PING via their server. Eg, you cannot activate Akismet Plugin. Another thing is weekly or so, you may have 20 to 30 mins downtime :@ That affect you a lot.
